About Kamara Bar

Kamara is a cocktail bar in Soho, above Brother Marcus. It came out of Athens. The bars there are thriving and almost none of it is about the drinking.

People come out in the cool of the night to sit with each other, and the drinks are the reason to stay rather than the reason to come. That is the room we wanted upstairs.

Kamara is part of the Brother Marcus story. Same building, same values, later hours. The spirits macerate in terracotta pots made by George in Thrapsano, a village in Crete where people have worked the same earth for thousands of years. The same pots cure olives and hold raki at home. Mezze comes to the table to be shared. There are backgammon boards, because there is nowhere in the Eastern Med without one.

One drink turns into a second, a second turns into a bit of mezze, the mezze turns into another drink. Head upstairs, into a warm, low-lit room with terracotta tones and music. The mood is warm, generous and never too serious. It feels intimate without being formal, with cosy tables for dates, space for groups and a bar made for pulling up a stool. This is somewhere to talk, laugh and let the evening take its own course.
