Soho Presents Independent Label Market
Thanks to everyone who came down to the Independent Label Market on Saturday 16 June. We hope you had fun!
On Saturday 16 June from 10am-6pm the Independent Label Market took over Berwick Street Market, Soho. For the first time ever the market was filled with female record label founders with a selection of vinyl stalls selling the best of their rosters from limited edition runs, to coveted coloured vinyl. See what went down on the day here:
As a celebration of women in music, the Independent Label Market curated an incredible all female line-up including Sarah Bolshi's Sunday Best, Cherish Kaya and Katy Partridge's Kaya Kaya Records, Hannah Holland's Batty Bass and Sarah Howells' Seahorse Music. From Liverpool Brit Jean Williams and Yvonne Page will be fronting their respective Blak Hand Records and Dig Vinyl.
The line up also saw...
BATTY BASS RECORDS / Blak Hand Records / Brownswood / Dig Vinyl / Folkstock / Kaya Kaya Records / Mexican Summer / Seahorse Music / Soundway Records Sunday Best / Wolf Tone / Xtra Mile Records
Providing the soundtrack was local independent radio station Soho Radio, who hosted an exclusive live broadcast from the market with a line up of three fierce female DJs including Xanthe Fuller, known for her eclectic mix of genres including disco, hip hop, house, grime, afrobeat, reggae, and even the odd classical track; Sophie Callis, who has played with Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Trevor Nelson and Kerri Chandler to name but a few; plus the one and only, Cherrie Flava AKA Nicole McKenzie ex A&R for Soul Jazz Records and all-round music mogul.
