Soho Presents Independent Label Market
Soho Music Month is coming this June and to celebrate Soho will be hosting, for the first time ever, an exclusive all-female Independant Label Market event.
Kicking off this June, Soho will be joining forces with Carnaby for Soho Music Month, a month-long festival with free music events, workshops and panels. Find out more here.
On Saturday 16 June the Independent Label Market will take over Berwick Street Market, Soho. For the first time ever the market will be filled with only female record label founders with a selection of vinyl stalls selling the best of their rosters from limited edition runs, to coveted coloured vinyl.
As a celebration of women in music, the Independent Label Market will curate an incredible all female line-up including Sarah Bolshi's Sunday Best, Nik Void’s OGenesis and H/O/D Records, Cherish Kaya and Katy Partridge's Kaya Kaya Records, Hannah Holland's Batty Bass and Sarah Howells' Seahorse Music. From Liverpool Brit Jean Williams and Yvonne Page will be fronting their respective Blak Hand Records and Dig Vinyl.
Providing the soundtrack will be local independent radio station Soho Radio, who will be pitching up for an exclusive live broadcast from the market with a line up of three fierce female DJs. Taking over the decks will be Xanthe Fuller, known for her eclectic mix of genres including disco, hip hop, house, grime, afrobeat, reggae, and even the odd classical track; Sophie Callis, who has played with Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Trevor Nelson and Kerri Chandler to name but a few; plus the one and only, Cherrie Flava AKA Nicole McKenzie ex A&R for Soul Jazz Records and all-round music mogul.
For a small £2 charity donation to House of St Barnabas customers can buy a Soho tote bag to take their records away safely and in style.
