Soho's LGBTQ+ History

With an array of bars and shops at the heart of London's queer scene, Soho has long been the heart of championing individuality and pride for the LGBTQ+ community.

Soho's queer history originates back to secret clubs where the LGBTQ+ communities would meet despite the risk of persecution. Throughout the 1920's and 30's Soho was home to a thriving club scene with several gay-friendly venues lining the streets. Now centred around Old Compton Street with notable venues such as The Admiral Duncan and G-A-Y bar, Soho remains home to LGBTQ+ positivity.
